It is with broken hearts and profound sorrow that we share the devastating news of the sudden and unexpected passing of Mia Papadopoulos, a beloved member of the Kelowna community.

Mia, the Front-of-House (FOH) Operations Manager at Lakehouse Home Store, passed away far too soon, leaving behind an immense void in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, and a proud resident of Kelowna, British Columbia, Mia was a vibrant, passionate, and compassionate soul who touched countless lives. She was more than just a colleague or a friend—she was a radiant presence who lit up every room she entered.

Her enthusiasm for hospitality was infectious, and her commitment to creating meaningful experiences for others was unmatched. Whether it was through her thoughtful attention to detail at Lakehouse, her dedication as a sommelier and chef, or her unwavering support for her community, Mia led with heart and grace in everything she did.

Mia’s passing is not only a personal loss to her loved ones but also a collective loss to the entire Kelowna community. To her family—her cherished mother Lenora, lovingly known as “Mamma Mia,” her father Brad, her best friend and brother Yanni, Geneva, and her treasured nephew Jack—our hearts are with you.

We can only begin to imagine the depth of your pain, and we offer our love, prayers, and full support during this incredibly difficult time. As her family so beautifully put it, “Mia was as much family to the community as she was to us.” This pain is shared by many, and her absence is felt deeply.

Mia was also a valued board member of Chefs in the Classroom, where she brought boundless energy, creativity, and passion for food, education, and community. She believed in the power of connecting young people to the land, to cooking, and to each other through shared meals and experiences.

Her legacy will live on in the gardens nurtured by young hands, the meals prepared with love, and the countless students she inspired through her work. At Lakehouse Home Store, Mia played a vital role in shaping the soul of the cooking school.

Her warmth, professionalism, and hospitality elevated every event. She ensured each guest felt welcomed, cared for, and valued. Her love for hospitality wasn’t just a job—it was her calling, and she answered it with style, substance, and sincerity.

She was the heartbeat of every class and gathering, and her presence will be profoundly missed by the entire Lakehouse family. As our close-knit team grapples with this tremendous loss, we are taking time to grieve, reflect, and support one another.
